On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July I appeared in the sixth edition of
Boris Charmatz's Musée de la Danse/Expo Zéro as part of the Foreign Affairs festival in Berlin. Here's me and David Riff in conversation in one of the rooms at the Kunstsaele.
Radical Museology at Nottingham Contemporary on 22 May: I chaired a discussion with Jesús Carrillo (Reina Sofia), Marta Dziewańska (Museum of Modern Art Warsaw) and Francesco Manacorda (Tate Liverpool). A video is online here.
A review of two books published by Afterall magazine: Making Art Global (Part 1): The Third Havana Biennial 1989, and Making Art Global (Part 2): Magiciens de la Terre, 1989. My thoughts on them, and exhibition history in general, can be found in the March 2014 issue of Artforum.
Koenig Books just mailed me copies of my new book, Radical Museology, or, What's Contemporary in Museums of Contemporary Art? It's a slim tome, with drawings by one of my favourite artists, Dan Perjovschi. It's available already in Europe, but sadly it won't arrive in the US for another 3-4 months.
This isn't really a blog, more of a regularly updated online archive of my publications, articles, talks, conferences, and so on. I haven't quite fathomed the chronology yet, so apologies for any confusion. The easiest way through it is to search for reviews, publications, conferences, discussions or podcasts.
About me: I have taught at Warwick University (2006-8), at the Royal College of Art, London (2001-6) and at Essex University, where I completed my PhD in 2002. I am currently based in the History of Art department at CUNY Graduate Center, NYC, where I can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org. - CB
